I am looking for work in Beirut as I have heard it is a great place to live. Currently I live in London, but having been here my whole life I would like to move. Also, my girlfriend is looking for work in the humanaitarian sector and she believes Beirut will be a good place for her to develop her career. Further, she spent 3 weeks in Amman working last November and really liked it.

MSc in economics, University College London (2008) BSc in economics, University of Nottingham (2005)
Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
Ultimately, in industry I believe skills are of more value. As typically you will not be theorising and solving academic style problems / research, but rather applying yourself to find solutions and achieve objectives that are practical in nature. However, for some technical jobs in industry eg working as a quantitative researcher in finance, your education can take on greater significance.
Describe the benefits of working with others
Gives you the opportunity to learn from others and learn about yourself. Ensures you know how to work and co-operate with differnt types of people and in different scenarios. Teaches you how to express yourself individually whilst maintaining a team-orientated ethic.
Describe the benefits of working alone
Can see and implement things as you like. No need to justify yourself to others. You are clearly responsible for your own performance and not that of others.
What was your worst working experience?
I once did manual labour cleaning shop display windows. This was physically hard work
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
That if you are not being challenged and not content then you should seek an alternative, whatever that is. Never settle for second best or an outcome that you never intended for or you fell into by accident or circumstances. Choose to do something you believe in and that is meaningful as much as possible.
What unique skills do you have?
I can get along and engage with all different kinds of people. I am highly non-judgemental.

Applying high-level mathematics & computing to real-world problems and situations.

Systems, processes, internal red tape, unnecessary controls, repetition
